We share peace. According to UNICEF officials, the “brains” of North Korean children are increasingly getting smaller due to food scarcity that have been going on for decades. If these children grow up without proper food intake, their abilities to think professionally, diversly and complexly will be severely damaged. It is heartbreaking to think that children of north and south Korea will grow up, marry, have children and lead the future of the Korean peninsula together in the post-unification era. Supporting the people of North Korea is neither “tomorrow’s work” nor is an “option” that we should choose to do. It is “today’s work” that “must be done” considering the value and future of the unified Korean peninsula. And we must face the peace and unification of the Korean Peninsula with this perspective and mindset and not make foolish mistakes of missing the right time. In terms of land, population, resources, national competitiveness, and other factors, South Korea is already at its limit. Therefore, we must unify our lands and pass on the legacy to our children so they can overcome the crisis and reach their full potential. To this end, it is critical that we work together to transform our nation’s “hostile and unstable” structure into “peaceful and stable structure”. This, of course, is just a process that will simply take us one step further to unification. Therefore, we and church must be used as tools to achieve our objective. I dare to say this is the will of God because “God, Lord, and the Holy Spirit are the peace.” If we, especially the church, has a strong determination toward it, peace and unification on our nation will be achieved in accordance with the “Way of God” in the “Time of God” un-der the sovereignty of God, who lives today. The “Green Season of Christ” will also come to the northern land. He shall use the “history of peace on the Korean Peninsula” to achieve world peace. “It’s the kingdom of God” and we must wait preparing for this time. To this end, we started the Peace Dream Forum in anticipation of a “butterfly effect” with “small gestures”. We are trying to carry “national reconciliation”, “inter-Korean exchange”, “cooperation and endeavor to overcome inter-Korean conflict” in “theory and field”. We ask for your prayer, support, and encouragement. Thank you.
The symbol focuses on the prayer for peace written by St. Francis of Assisi and is especially inspired by the phrase “Lord, make me your instrument of peace”. The symbol conveys a powerful message that our dream of achieving global peace begins with cultivating peace on the Korean Peninsula. It contains the meaning of being used as a tool in the process of making this peace.
Figuring out the topography of the Korean Peninsula.
Blue is the color of Taegeukgi (the South Korean flag). Red is the color of the North Korean flag. And the pale blue of the overlapping part symbolizes the future of unification as the color of the Korean unification flag.
Bullet casings were found in Hwacheon, Gangwon-do. We gathered these shell casings of ammunition fired during the 6.25 War and scattered all over the place to make the Bell of Peace. The South Korean Army, the UN Army, the North Korean Army, and the Chinese Army. We do not know whose shells they belong to. But by melting them all together and making them into bells of peace, we give them a special meaning
Both South and North Korea have become powerful military powers in the world. But we must clang swords to make sickles and spears to make plowshares. A tragedy of fratricidal war must not happen again on the Korean Peninsula. I dream of a day when the sound of Peace Bells will ring and echo in our hearts, travel through cities and communities, cross the 38th parallel line, and touch the hearts of the people on the other side of the line. With all this in mind and heart, we proclaim June 25th as the Day of Peace; we will make the bells of peace and share them in hopes that the sound of peace bells will reverberate widely across the world and reach all people, spreading peace and hope
He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. (Micah 4:3)
